About Shihan Ken

Shihan Ken Meier is the head instructor of USA Self Defense Centers, Inc. He works closely with his instructors to ensure solid martial arts classes are carried out in each program.
In addition to working with and overseeing the progress of each student in the school, he is the head coach of the duo ju-jitsu team where he has produced many gold medalists. Mr. Meier has been training in the martial arts for over 20 years and holds a 7th degree black belt in Kenpo karate, 2nd degree black belt in ju-jitsu, and two 1st degree black belts; one in Judo and the other in Isshin-Ryu.
Through the character education portion of the junior martial arts classes, Mr. Meier stresses the importance of working hard and doing well in school. He currently is a high school special education teacher in the inner city for Buffalo Public Schools, but also holds teaching degrees in elementary education, English as well as a degree in school administration.
